Other features include a 48-hour power reserve and scratch-resistant and glare-proofed domed sapphire crystal.

Omega Men's Seamaster 300M "James Bond" Automatic Chronometer Watch powered by Omega's break-through Co-Axial escapement. Developed in conjunction with master watchmaker George Daniels, it's based on double co-axial escape wheel, a lever with three pallet stones and impulse stone on the balance roller, together with a free sprung-balance. The Co-Axial escapement system reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement and thus ensures greater accuracy over time.

Omega Men's Seamaster 300M "James Bond" Automatic Chronometer Watch also features the Omega 2500 caliber automatic movement, which has been certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Control). Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond adventure and the second performance of Daniel Craig in the role of the world's most famous spy.

The Omega Seamaster GMT is a very nice watch, which uses the same 41.5 mm case design as all the other Seamaster 300 m Divers. The GMT hand is unique compared with most other GMT watches in that when you adjust the hour the main hour hand moves, not the GMT hand. This makes the watch much easier to adjust for local time than other GMT watches. You simply keep your GMT hand on home time permanently, and adjust the main hour hand in the 1 hour increments to adjust for local time.

The watch has a day/night two-tone bezel which many people don’t like it. It can be relatively easily changed to a standard black or silver bezel if you wish however.

OMEGA has announced the launch of the Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal Limited Edition, the world’s first watch to bond ceramics and Liquidmetal. It is the 42mm version and a limited Edition of 1,948 Pieces

Swatch Group researchers collaborating with OMEGA’s product development team have created a striking ceramic diving bezel whose numbers and scaling, made of the Liquidmetal alloy, appear in stunning silvery contrast to the black ceramic background. The colour of the ceramic dial perfectly matches that of the bezel. The result is an aesthetic wonder only made possible by several new and innovative processes.

The remarkable world premiere is being launched in a limited edition of 1,948 pieces in honour of the year OMEGA launched its popular Seamaster watch line.

Liquidmetal: seamless bonding, remarkable hardness
The Liquidmetal alloy is an amorphous metal – a metallic material with a disordered, non-crystalline atomic structure. Its fusion temperature is half that of conventional titanium alloys but when it is cooled, its hardness is three times as great as that of stainless steel. Its amorphous structure allows it to bond seamlessly with the ceramic bezel.

The Liquidmetal is a bulk metallic glass alloy consisting of five elements: zirconium, titanium, copper, nickel and beryllium. A bulk metallic glass can, by virtue of its low critical cooling rate, be formed into a structure with a thickness of more than a tenth of a millimetre. Zirconium is an important constituent part both of the Liquidmetal alloy and of the ceramic material which is made of zirconium dioxide (Zr02).

The final, perfectly smooth bezel is particularly resistant to scratching and corrosion because of the hardness of the two components.

The union of ceramics and Liquidmetal at OMEGA
First, ceramic rings are formed. The numbers and the fine lines of the minute scaling are then engraved into these ceramic bezel rings and polished. The alloy is heated and pressed into the cavities in the ceramic material after which any excess Liquidmetal is removed. The Liquidmetal can be manipulated at a lower temperature than metals normally used in watchmaking so the heating process does not damage the ceramic material.

The Liquidmetal numbers and scales are then satin brushed. Because the ceramic is a harder material than the alloy, the satin brushing of the fine details can be done without affecting the ceramic bezel. The numbers and scaling then appear in bold, vivid contrast to the glossy ceramic background.

The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronometer is one luxury sports watch that is really impressing me these days. While it's a good watch that has been around for some time, and even been equipped with the George Daniels-designed Co-Axial Escapement, the versatile Aqua Terra got a massive boost this year. Why? Omega's in-house 8500 caliber, and a sharp subtle redesign to go along with this technically impressive and very promising new self-winding movement.

Let's start with the redesign. The case of the new Omega Aqua Terra watches-in either 38.5 or 41.5mm sizes-is very much like the old, and shares a lot in common with the legendary Speedmaster Professional chronograph. It's got just the right blend of polished and brushed surfaces, meaning it works extremely well regardless of your attire. The slender polished bezel looks quite elegant, and it frames the slightly curved sapphire crystals very nicely, indeed. However, it is the dials where you notice some entirely new beauty revealing itself-in place of the more expected glossy or matte metallic dials, you have a new "teck concept" pattern. The Omega 8500 is also really, really pretty to look at, with an exclusive "Cotes de Geneve en Arabesque" decorative pattern on all the external surfaces of major components. The version inside the 18K red gold models is particularly handsome, because in these, balance bridge and rotor are both made from red gold, a material which stands out beautifully against the rhodium-plated parts.

Prices of the 8500-equipped Omega Aqua Terra models are very reasonable considering how much watch you are really getting. They are noticeably more expensive than the older models, but that's understandable, as the latter are equipped with excellent, but less exclusive, Omega-modified ETA calibers. I feel it is very safe to say that the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra watches with the manufacture 8500 movement are going to provide some stiff competition for the ubiquitous Rolex Datejust.

Omega Seamaster, I admired for some time. Since many of my first one, because I'm a big fan found 007 (I have all the James Bond films on DVD).
